What is Thai
Yoga Massage?

Thai Yoga Massage is a deeply restorative, full-body treatment that combines assisted stretching, deep pressure, and rhythmic compression to release tension and improve mobility. Often described as “lazy yoga,” it works by guiding the body through a series of yoga-inspired movements while targeting tight muscles, stiff joints, and restricted fascia.

This therapeutic massage is a powerful way to ease pain, reduce stiffness, and improve mobility. Performed fully clothed on a comfortable mat, Thai Yoga Massage treats the body as whole, uncovering the root causes of common problems such as ongoing back pain, neck and shoulder tension, sciatica, and hip misalighment. It is ideal for people who feel tight, stressed, or “locked up” from sitting at a desk, exercising, or living with long-term pain.

If you’re looking for deep relaxation with real therapeutic results, Thai Yoga Massage offers a highly effective and restorative approach to long-lasting pain relief.

Your Questions Matter

  • Yes… but not the “lie quietly while someone pokes your shoulders” kind. Thai yoga massage is a deeply restorative treatment combining assisted stretching, rhythmic pressure, movement, and relaxation — often described as yoga you don’t have to do yourself.

  • Nope. Thai yoga massage is traditionally performed fully clothed, so we recommend wearing soft, comfortable clothing you can move in easily.

  • Comfortable clothing with plenty of movement — think yoga clothes or soft loungewear. Probably not jeans unless you enjoy unnecessary challenges.

  • It shouldn’t be painful, though you may feel deep stretches and areas of tension releasing. Think “good stretch after a long day” rather than “surviving a sports documentary”.

  • You’ll be guided through a series of supported stretches, gentle compressions, rocking movements, and trigger point acupressure, all designed to help the body unwind and rebalance.

  • Rather than working only on muscles, Thai yoga massage works with the whole body through movement, stretching, breath, and pressure techniques. It’s more interactive — though still wonderfully relaxing.

  • Not even slightly. You can arrive feeling as bendy as a garden rake and still enjoy all the benefits. The session is adapted entirely to your body and comfort level.

  • That’s completely understandable. Sessions are always respectful, professional, and guided by clear communication and consent. You’re encouraged to speak up at any point.

  • Absolutely. Stress, tight hips, stiff shoulders, and questionable posture are universal human experiences.

  • Many people find Thai yoga massage incredibly calming for the nervous system. Slow, mindful movement and supported rest can help create a real sense of ease and balance.

  • Very often, yes. Tight shoulders, hips, neck tension, and “I’ve been shaped like a laptop all week” posture are common reasons people book sessions.

  • That is exactly what Matter is here to do. Let’s have a call and discuss your personal physical history so we can work out the right approach for you.
